FAQS

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

The only required clothing items are long pants and boots with a heel. Most students wear Xtratuffs. We do not require proper riding gear and we will supply a helmet. You are more than welcome to bring your own equestrian helmet, but bike or other styles of helmets are not allowed. Please note that everyone including adults are required to wear a helmet. Sneakers and shorts are not permitted. If you have open toed shoes you will not be allowed in the proximity of the horses.

WHEN SHOULD WE ARRIVE?

Please arrive approximately 5 minutes early. However, please do not arrive too early as I am often engaged in lessons with other students. Please be respectful of the lesson before you and do not come into the barn or tack shed until that person is leaving. This is so we don't feel rushed at the end. Please be aware that there are usually students after your appointment. I will not extend class if you are late and I have a class afterwords. This is so I don't cut into anyone else's times. If you are 30 minutes or more late we will not be able to do the lesson and you will be charged for the lesson.

CAN PARENTS WATCH?

For older children and teens (most), we encourage parents to only watch a small part of the lesson. The purpose for this is to give students an opportunity to learn from the instructor without distraction. However, we do enjoy when parents come for a short period to witness the progress! For pony rides, parents or guardians are required to stay.

IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT?

Yes, Due to the size of my horses and the tack used our weight limit is 250 pounds for beginner riders. The weight limit can be more for experienced riders with good balance.

WILL OUR CLASS STILL HAPPEN IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

Yes! We have an indoor and outdoor arena. We will still have lessons unless the weather is well below freezing or very strong wind. Please bring gloves and dress warm in the winter. The barn is usually colder than in town. Rain gear is also suggested. If it is sprinkling we will usually go outside.
